OHN FASHANU’S daughter says she knows seven gay Premier League footballers – all trapped in a ‘dark world’,

Amal – niece of Justin Fashanu, who came out and later killed himself – believes gay players are still trapped by fear of how people would react to their homosexuality.

Justin Fashanu, Britain’s first black £1million footballer, committed suicide in 1998 aged just 37, protesting his innocence over claims of sexual assault made by a 17-year-old boy in the USA.

The former Nottingham Forest striker and ex-Leeds midfielder Robbie Rogers – in 2013 – are still the only professional players in senior English football to have revealed they are gay.

Amal told BBC Radio 5 Live: “I actually know myself of seven. I will never, ever share their details.

“I’m not going to out them because I would never do that.

“You want to be honest, even to help them out, but you just can’t do that. The football world is extremely dark.”
