JUBILANT Claudio Ranieri threw down the gauntlet to Leicester’s title rivals and declared: Catch us if you can.

The Foxes stormed five points clear after the 1-0 win at Watford as Riyad Mahrez claimed the vital winner..

And the Leicester boss said: “I don’t know who is behind us — I just want to run very fast. Of course we are running for something special — and why not?

“I don’t know what will happen. I say to my players that every match is a final, what can we do?

“We wanted to show what we have inside. My players’ desire is so high and we have a great opportunity.”

However, his players’ belief is not backed up by some of their fans.

Two Leicester punters have cashed out on 5,000-1 title bets early — ahead of the real Squeaky Bum time.

John Pryke has been paid £29,000 after deciding to take his money and run. And yesterday another punter, who wanted to remain anonymous, was paid £72,000 for his £50 bet.

The current payout figure on a Leicester title win is 1,958-1, meaning the mystery man would have earned another £25,900 if he had waited until today.

A William Hill spokesman said: “We have just 25 bets at 5,000-1 and while they all have so far avoided cashing out, we could do with a few doing so, as those bets alone will trigger a £360,000 payout.”

Leicester still need another 19 points from their final nine games to reach Ranieri’s target of 79 points.

But the Italian added: “I don’t know how many points will win the title. I don’t know if 79 will be enough — but I would be happy.

“Today was an important win. There will be battles for everybody, not just for us. We are so happy.

“But the title is not ours yet. We have to fight step by step and keep our feet on the ground.”
